Ipswich Golf Club holds a small collection of files, annual reports, newspaper cuttings (some undated) and photographs which were consulted for this history.
Members minute books are missing for the years relating to the old course. Associates minute books are available from 1925 onwards. The annual reports relating to the years at the old course are also missing; the report for 1949 is held by the Club, then reports are held from 1957 onwards. Some older honour boards are missing.
To fill in the gaps in history, the main source of information was golfing notes and accounts of annual general meetings in old newspapers now held on microfilm in several libraries. For more recent years, the recollections of Members, Associates and staff have been invaluable.
